Three Days & TWO Exhibitions in Belfast, ME
Friday 9/27 - Day 1
5:00p - Waterfall Arts opening (256 High St.)
It’s Fourth Friday Art Walk in Belfast - hosted by the Belfast Creative Coalition! And thus, Waterfall Arts opens with two exhibitions: “Storyforms,” the Camden Int’l Film Festival Virtual Reality Exhibit in the Clifford Gallery. In addition, the Retrospective Show for the Village Canoe: “Confluence,” is on view in the Hallway Corridor. We’ll be there for both, so join us for informal gathering inside for a celebration of community arts.
6:30p - Parade down to Heritage Park opening (25 Front St.) to the Village Canoe Exhibition Shed
Want to be part of the ever-evolving fabric of our wonderful community? Join us in a “parade” as we stroll down through the heart of beautiful, Downtown Belfast in large group formation. We will process down to Heritage Park on Belfast’s Waterfront. Literally: an Art Walk on the Fourth Friday Art Walk!
If you’d like to carry a lantern, join Village Canoe Artist-In-Residence Willow Wildheart at the Belfast Free Library throughout September. Click here for more information on lantern-making workshops.
7:00p - 8:00p - Opening Remarks, Artist Introductions, Dance Performance in the Village Canoe Exhibition Shed
Join us for opening reception with remarks from Village Canoe artist and project organizer, Chris Battaglia, and introductions from each artist in attendance. Programming concludes with the first Dance Performance of the weekend. Stick around and enjoy the show, mingle, and spend time outdoors with your neighbors!

Saturday 9/28 - Day 2
The 2019 Village Canoe Floating Artist Residency group at the WoodenBoat School in Brooklin, ME at the completion of the trip.
10:00a - 11:30a - Camp Coffee + Panel Discussion with the Village Canoe Artists-in-Residence in the Village Canoe Exhibition Shed
Join us for a cup of cowboy coffee and a conversation with the participants of the inaugural artist residency. Each artist will share a little bit about their work for the Village Canoe exhibition. In addition, we are lucky to be joined by representatives from local organizations who supplied the project with gear outfitting, guidance, and knowledge from their perspective on the theme of “Expeditioning.” Participants:

1:00p - 3:30p - Dance Performance and Community Worksongs Chorus Workshop + Demo: Traditional Voyageur Paddling Songs in the Village Canoe Exhibition Shed
Dance artist and Village Canoe artist-in-residence Matea Mills-Andruk will lead the second of two dance performances of the weekend.
The Community Worksongs Chorus, led by Bennett Konesni, will lead a workshop and perform traditional voyageur paddling songs.

Sunday, Sept. 29 - Day 3
11:00a - 2p - Paddle-making workshop and demonstation with Paul Fanelli in the Village Canoe Exhibition Shed
Join us for a hands-on canoe paddle-making demonstration with Paul Fanelli of Fanelli Boatworks. In addition, João Strout-Bentes of Break the Anchor will be on-site to help in the design and final carving of a half-hull model of the future Village Canoe - estimated construction beginning winter 2019-2020.
