Penobscot River Paddling Trail Annual Meeting

The Penobscot River Paddling Trail (PRPT) is a relatively new non-profit in the Midcoast region, whose mission is to establish and maintain a paddling, camping and educational trail down the main stem of the Penobscot River. The annual meeting and potluck was held at the scenic Veazie Salmon Clubhouse overlooking the Penobscot River on February 2.

Given the potential for The Village Canoe’s interest in the Penobscot watershed, it felt like a great relationship to embark on. David Thanhauser, the President of the organization, and I got together in the beginning of the new year and exchanged information, thoughts, and some resources.

The next meeting for the organization will occur with a paddling event on Saturday, August 24th. The Penobscot Paddle and Chowder Society and The Village Canoe will be running coinciding trips - this marks the first day of the planned 10-day residency on the Penobscot. More details to come. We’re all in this together!
